Commercial Waiver for cancellation of services to HKG (Hong Kong)

Due to the temporary suspension of EY834 / EY833 services to Hong Kong from 21 February 2020 to 28 March 2020 (including the HKG-AUH cancelled service on 29 March 2020).


Etihad Airways is offering the following options to guests who have purchased EY tickets on/before 18 February 2020, to travel to/from Hong Kong.


Rebooking/Re issue


For partially used tickets, re-booking / re-routing is available on the following options -


  • On HX (Hong Kong Airlines) via BKK (e.g. AUH -EY-BKK-HX-HKG v.v)
  • On CX (Cathay Pacific) via BKK / KUL/MNL/SIN/CMB (e.g. AUH -EY-BKK/KUL/MNL/SIN/CMB – CX – HKG v.v)
  • On TG (Thai Airways) via BKK (e.g. AUH-EY-BKK-TG-HKG v.v)
  • On AI (Air India) via BOM /DEL (e.g. AUH-EY-BOM/DEL-AI-HKG v.v)


Rebooking needs to be done on the original RBD or the lowest available RBD in the same cabin.


For unused tickets, re-booking on EY services for the same routing and in the same RBD can be made with travel outbound prior to 31 May 2020.


Change fees are waived for this one instance only, any subsequent changes will be subject to normal reissue fees.


Re-routing and endorsement onto other airlines not permitted unless mentioned in the waiver.




For tickets issued on/before 18 February 2020 for travel to/from Hong Kong between 21 February 2020 to 28 March 2020 (including the HKG-AUH cancelled service on 29 March 2020), guest impacted by the above situation can request a full refund. 


Refund on partially utilized ticket must be calculated based upon pro-rata mileage flown.


The above policy is applicable for Group bookings also.


Please ensure the PNR is updated with the remark "Invol change due temp service suspension to HKG”
